Training process

Training needs analysis

If you have specific requirements regarding the training programme, we will carry out a training needs analysis for you. This will guide us on which aspects of the programme should receive greater emphasis, so that the training programme meets your specific needs.

What will you gain?

icon

Confident Power BI workflow - You will get comfortable with Power BI Desktop, Service, and Mobile, so you can find key features faster, understand the reporting workflow, and avoid confusion from the start.

icon

Smarter data connections - You will learn how to connect Excel, CSV, databases, and web sources, and when to use Import or DirectQuery, so your reports match the structure and refresh needs of your data.

icon

Clean data for analysis - Using Power Query, you will clean and reshape data before analysis by removing errors, filtering noise, merging tables, and adding columns, so your reports rely on consistent inputs.

icon

Reliable data model - You will build relationships between tables, choose proper keys, and understand filter directions, which will help you create a model that supports accurate analysis without misleading links.

icon

Your first DAX calculations - You will create basic DAX measures and calculated columns, allowing you to define key metrics on your own, format results properly, and adapt the model to reporting requirements.

icon

Clear interactive reports - You will learn how to choose charts, tables, matrices, maps, and cards, then add filters, slicers, and interactions so users can explore results quickly and focus on what matters most.

icon

Publishing and sharing - You will publish reports to Power BI Service, organize content online, build dashboards, and share results with others, making distribution easier than sending files back and forth.

icon

Better report structure - You will apply best practices for PBIX structure, page layout, visual consistency, and limiting unnecessary data, so your reports become easier to use and more efficient to maintain.

Training programme

1. Introduction to Power BI includes learning the main components of the platform and their application in data analysis and presentation. Discussion of the Power BI environment includes the program interface, the basic way of working, and the most important differences between Power BI and Excel

  • Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service and Power BI Mobile,
  • overview of the Power BI Desktop user interface,
  • basic organization of work with a report,
  • differences between Power BI and Excel,
  • applications of Power BI in data analysis and reporting.

2. Downloading and importing data includes working with various sources and selecting the appropriate method of connecting to data. Source configuration takes into account import mode, DirectQuery, and the principles of subsequent updating of information used in reports

  • importing data from Excel and CSV files,
  • downloading data from databases,
  • downloading data from internet sources,
  • selection and configuration of the data source,
  • Import mode and DirectQuery,
  • differences between methods of connecting to data,
  • updating data in the prepared report.

3. Power Query allows preparing, organizing and transforming data before using it in the model and reports. Working with the editor includes cleaning information, merging tables, changing the data structure and creating additional columns

  • cleaning and filtering data,
  • removing unnecessary and incorrect values,
  • merging and joining tables,
  • transforming columns,
  • changing and controlling data types,
  • adding custom columns,
  • basic data transformation operations,
  • preparing data for further modeling.

4. Data modeling includes building relationships between tables and preparing a coherent structure enabling proper analysis of information. The basics of modeling also include simple DAX calculations, data categories, and appropriate formatting of model elements

  • creating relationships between tables,
  • defining keys used in relationships,
  • single-directional and bi-directional relationships,
  • basic principles of building a data model,
  • creating simple DAX measures,
  • creating calculated columns,
  • assigning data categories,
  • formatting data and calculation results.

5. Creating reports and visualizations includes selecting appropriate ways of presenting data and building clear report pages. Configuring interactivity allows users to filter information, analyze selected ranges, and dynamically change the presented results

  • overview of available types of visualizations,
  • creating charts,
  • creating tables and matrices,
  • using cards and indicators,
  • creating maps,
  • grouping and filtering data,
  • configuring report filters,
  • creating segmenters and slicers,
  • building interactions between visualizations.

6. Publishing and sharing reports includes transferring prepared analyses from Power BI Desktop to the Power BI Service environment. Collaboration configuration includes creating dashboards, sharing reports with users, and automatic refresh of the data used

  • publishing reports in Power BI Service,
  • organizing reports in the online environment,
  • creating and configuring dashboards,
  • sharing reports with other users,
  • collaborating on reports in a team,
  • basic rules of access to reports,
  • configuration of automatic data refresh.

7. Best practices for working with Power BI include proper organization of the report, data model, and individual visual elements. Applying appropriate principles increases the readability of reports, improves usability ergonomics, and helps maintain good solution performance

  • PBIX file structure,
  • organization of pages and report elements,
  • consistency and readability of visualizations,
  • ergonomic arrangement of information,
  • selection of appropriate chart types,
  • basic principles of model optimization,
  • reducing unnecessary data,
  • tips on report performance.

What are the prerequisites for participating in the training?

icon

Basic computer skills - You should be comfortable working in Windows, opening and saving files, and moving between folders and applications so you can complete the course exercises without difficulty.

icon

Data basics - You should understand what columns, rows, tables, and headers are, so it is easier for you to import, filter, combine, and prepare data for further reporting work.
