Training process

Training needs analysis

If you have specific requirements regarding the training programme, we will carry out a training needs analysis for you. This will guide us on which aspects of the programme should receive greater emphasis, so that the training programme meets your specific needs.

What will you gain?

icon

Data-driven storytelling - You will learn how to turn numbers and charts into a clear narrative, making your insights easier to explain, better tailored to your audience, and more persuasive in presentations.

icon

Clear, polished slides - You will discover how to design charts and slides that are clean, visually appealing, and focused on key messages, so your audience sees what matters without unnecessary clutter.

icon

Smarter chart selection - You will learn how to match chart types to your goal and data structure, so you can present comparisons, trends, shares, and relationships in a way people quickly understand.

icon

Hands-on tool practice - You will practice building effective visuals in Excel, PowerPoint, and tools like Datawrapper and Flourish, so you can apply the techniques immediately in your everyday work.

icon

Stronger live presenting - You will learn how to select the right information and structure a live data narrative, so you can explain results clearly, hold attention, and strengthen your message with analogies.

icon

Avoiding misleading visuals - You will understand the principles of ethical data visualization, helping you avoid deceptive scales, poor chart choices, and unintentional distortion of findings in reports and slides.

icon

A wider visual toolkit - You will go beyond basic bar, line, and pie charts and explore maps and less standard formats, giving you more ways to present different data types and business context effectively.

icon

AI support for storytelling - You will see how AI can support your work on visuals and narrative, from organizing ideas to speeding up preparation and helping you frame sharper, more compelling conclusions.

Training programme

1. Introduction to Data Storytelling

  • the role of storytelling in data presentation,
  • examples of inspiring stories based on data,
  • adapting the message to the audience, context and situation.

2. Fundamentals of clear visualizations

  • how to take care of the aesthetics of our charts and slides,
  • basics of working with colors, fonts and content hierarchy,
  • how to draw the audience's attention to key conclusions,
  • data visualization ethics – how to create correct charts and avoid manipulation.
  • inspirations from various industries.

3. Selecting the appropriate chart type

  • practical tips on the use of bar, line, and pie charts,
  • objective and the selection of chart type,
  • creating and using maps and less standard types of charts,
  • practical examples on different data sets.

4. Practice in tools

  • creating effective charts in Excel, PowerPoint and/or other tools used on a daily basis by participants.
  • learning about free data visualization tools, such as Datawrapper, Flourish.

5. Presenting data live

  • differences between creating reports/dashboards and presenting live,
  • selection of information and the structure of building a convincing narrative,
  • how to talk about data to maintain the audience's attention,
  • the role of metaphors and analogies in data storytelling,
  • examples of effective presentations.

6. AI in data visualization

  • how AI can support us in data storytelling.

7. Practical exercises in each part of the training

What are the prerequisites for participating in the training?

icon

Basic data literacy - You should be comfortable reading tables, understanding basic metrics, and drawing simple conclusions from data, so you can focus on presentation rather than analysis basics.

icon

Excel or PowerPoint basics - You should know how to handle basic tasks in Excel or PowerPoint, such as editing data, working with slides, and creating simple charts based on your own materials.

icon

Experience presenting results - It is helpful if you already have some experience presenting results or reports, because the training develops how you tell data stories rather than teaching public speaking from scratch.

icon

Readiness for hands-on work - You should be ready to work actively with examples and exercises, test different visualization approaches, and improve your own materials during the sessions and between modules.
