Training process

Training needs analysis

If you have specific requirements regarding the training programme, we will carry out a training needs analysis for you. This will guide us on which aspects of the programme should receive greater emphasis, so that the training programme meets your specific needs.

What will you gain?

icon

Insight-led storytelling - You will turn raw data into a clear business story, so you can show faster what truly matters in the analysis and what decisions should follow from the evidence you present.

icon

Dashboards that guide viewers - You will design Power BI pages and interactions that lead your audience step by step, instead of leaving them alone with too many charts and a report layout that lacks direction.

icon

AI for comments and measures - You will use Copilot to speed up KPI descriptions, trend summaries and first drafts of measures, then learn how to review and refine them so they fit the real business context.

icon

A clear report structure - You will master a report flow from KPI to trend, data source and recommendation, making your analyses easier to follow, more convincing and more useful for decision-makers.

icon

Automated Excel commentary - You will build Excel reports supported by VBA that generate charts and narrative comments based on conditions, cutting the time you spend preparing recurring analyses by hand.

icon

Reports and slides in one flow - You will learn how to connect Power BI, Excel and VBA into one reporting workflow, so you can produce a dashboard, commentary and presentation or PDF without constant manual copying.

icon

Stronger slides and delivery - You will learn how to create slides and visual layouts that carry the story on their own, while also using Copilot to draft slide descriptions and concise speaking notes.

icon

Interactive analysis path - You will use bookmarks, drill-through and tooltips to let viewers move from a headline result to its cause and supporting detail without losing the meaning of the overall analysis.

Training programme

1. Fundamentals of Data Storytelling

  • what is data storytelling and how does it support the decision-making process?
  • elements of a good story based on data: context, narrative, conclusions,
  • Model: Conclusion → Evidence → Visualization,
  • analysis of a data set in order to formulate the main conclusion as the axis of the narrative,
  • use of Copilot in Excel and PowerPoint to generate first versions of comments and summaries.

2. Power BI – designing narrative dashboards

  • layout of data and pages in Power BI from the perspective of guiding the audience,
  • Bookmarks, Selection Pane, Drill-through, Tooltips – as tools for building a narrative path,
  • introduction of AI as a design assistant:
    • copilot for creating measures, explanations, KPI descriptions,
  • principles of constructing report pages with conclusions and recommendations in mind.

3. KPI as the starting point of the narrative, source data as the background

  • narrative structure of the report: KPI → trend → source → recommendation,
  • creating logical transitions between data using interactive elements,
  • using Copilot for:
    • automatic summarization of trends in data,
  • verification of texts generated by AI and their correction in terms of context.

4. Excel + VBA – automation of narrative

  • building reports in Excel that „speak” – logical structure of the message,
  • macros generating charts and comments based on conditions (IF, CASE),
  • automatic creation of PowerPoint slides from within Excel (VBA + PowerPoint),
  • Copilot integration in Excel:
    • suggestions for formulas, section names, comments based on data.

5. Integration of VBA with Power BI

  • export of data from Power BI to Excel as a source for automatic reporting,
  • building processes: Power BI (dashboard) → Excel (report) → VBA (commentary + slides),
  • narrative scenario: the dashboard presents data, Excel and VBA prepare the narrative and the PDF or PowerPoint report,
  • support by Copilot: suggestions for slide headings, data interpretation.

6. Visual communication and narrative layout

  • how to design reports and slides that „speak for themselves”?
  • principles of readability: eye direction, highlights, proportions, information balance,
  • comparison of exploratory and narrative dashboards,
  • ways to use Copilot in PowerPoint:
    • automatic slide descriptions,
    • creating texts for oral presentation,
    • transforming tabular data into concise narratives.

What are the prerequisites for participating in the training?

icon

Basic Excel skills - You should be comfortable working in Excel with tables, filtering, sorting and basic formulas, so you can focus on automation and storytelling instead of software basics.

icon

Basic Power BI knowledge - You should know the Power BI interface and be able to build simple visuals and report pages on your own, because the course develops narrative design rather than starting from zero.

icon

Understanding of data analysis - You should understand concepts such as KPI, trend, data source and conclusion, so you can build analysis-based narratives and interpret AI-generated outputs with confidence.

icon

Readiness for VBA and AI work - You do not need advanced programming skills, but you should be ready to work with simple conditional logic, macros and AI prompts, because they are a core part of the exercises.
