1. Introduction to Power BI

  • components of the Power BI platform: Desktop, Service, Mobile,
  • overview of the Power BI Desktop user interface,
  • differences between Power BI and Excel.

2. Retrieving and importing data

  • importing data from Excel files, CSV, databases, Web,
  • discussion of import mode and DirectQuery,
  • data refresh and data source.

3. Power Query – data transformation

  • cleaning and filtering data,
  • merging and joining tables,
  • transforming columns and data types,
  • adding custom columns,
  • applying basic operations to data.

4. Data modeling

  • creating relationships between tables,
  • setting primary keys and one-way/two-way relationships,
  • creating simple measures and calculated columns (DAX – basics),
  • data categories and formatting.

5. Creating reports and visualizations

  • overview of available types of visualizations,
  • creating charts, tables, cards and maps,
  • grouping and filtering data on visualizations,
  • adding interactivity: filters, segmentators, slicers.

What are the prerequisites for participating in the training?

Basic computer skills - You should be comfortable using Windows, working with files and folders, and installing or launching applications so you can complete the exercises without technical difficulty.

Understanding tables and spreadsheets - You should understand how tables and worksheets are structured, read rows and columns easily, and work with simple datasets, ideally with some familiarity with Excel.
